Improve Your Wellness in Five Simple Steps

Many of us in today's world are living a more and more sedentary lifestyle. We aren't all sick, but we aren't all entirely well either. Here are five simple things which can go a long way to improve your wellness, without impeding on your daily routine too much.

Number One

Wherever you can in your day to day life, do something manually instead of using the automated option. Climb the stairs instead of catching the lift (unless of course you are on the 50th floor!). If you can, walk to work, or take a stroll during your lunch break. Even installing software that reminds you on the hour to get up from your desk and stretch will help improve your wellness. Whatever you do, include exercise in your routine.

Number Two

Drink plenty of water. Everyone has heard it before, but not many of us actually put it into practice but it is life's essential liquid, so getting your share is important - it can help to keep a bottle of water on your desk and aim to refill it three or four times in a day to make sure your intake is adequate.

Number Three

Eat fruit everyday. At least once in a day you should eat a piece of fruit - or more. Maybe a good suggestion to make to the boss would be to get weekly office fruit deliveries - more and more workplaces are realising the value of the wellness of their employees, and having 'office fruit' available is a great way to promote this.

Number Four

Eat at least one meat free meal a week. For some people this is already in their routine, but for those who never give meat a break it is a serious health risk to over-indulge in meat. Eating meat a couple of times a week is best, and of course reducing your meat intake will also be a step towards helping the environment!

Number Five

Make some 'you time'. It is important for every person's wellbeing to schedule in some quiet, introspective time to reflect, relax and rejuvenate. Some great ways of doing this are through yoga, breathing or meditation practices which will help you to feel centred and ready to face life's challenges.
