Physics of a Mirror
A mirror is an object which is very much useful to us in our day to day life. There is not even a single day when we don't use it. We all use it, but there are very few who really know the principle behind the working of a mirror. A mirror shows the replica of the object which is put in front of it.
It shows the image of the object in the same way a ball works. When we throw a ball straight towards the floor, it comes back in the same direction. When we throw a ball in some other direction it just goes ahead.
An image which is shown in the mirror also works on the same principle. When we put mirror right in from of us, then the image will be straight. If we put the mirror in some other direction, the image looks different. Mirror works on the principle of the law of reflection. If you are using a plane mirror, then the image of the object will be just opposite to the object. Apart from these plain mirrors there are mirrors which carved, i.e. concave and convex. The image shown in this mirror will be completely different from that of the plane mirror.
The size of the image shown by the mirror also depends on the distance, size and focal length of the object. This law of reflection is of great help in understanding many things because many things work on this principle. This is of great help to all the physics people.
